ART

Nuit Blanche
If there is one thing you do this weekend, let it be Nuit Blanche. The all-night, city-wide art show turns Toronto into a sprawling gallery, with artists at many levels projecting, installing and displaying pieces in the rarest spaces. Nuit Blanche begins at sundown on Saturday night and goes right until sunrise on Sunday, with highlights including Ai Wei Wei's Forever Bicycles, (X)Static Clown Factory and The Other Side of the Gardiner, which will attempt to beautify the eyesore that cuts through the city. MARKET

Parkdale Flea
Parkdale Flea is packing up for the long winter months but not before one final market full of antique and vintage goods. Vendors like Sourced & Salvaged, Noble Street Antiques and Snap + Tumble will be selling their finds from 9-5 at Goodfellas Gallery on Queen, along with other collectors, artists and food and drink retailers. Come early to check out the best items before they're nabbed and send the flea off with a lovely good-bye by supporting the last 2013 market.

FASHION

Festival des Métiers
A traveling Hermès exhibition has landed in Toronto after stints in London and Dusseldorf. Visit the Design Exchange (234 Bay St) to get a behind-the-scenes look at the Parisian fashion house's longstanding traditions; watch an illustrator painstakingly draw every detail for a silk scarf or a leatherworker hand-stitch a Birkin handbag strap. The exhibition runs until Sunday.

Drake General Store Warehouse Sale
The city's mecca for eclectic treasures - is getting rid of their older salvaged furniture, clothing, and curiosities by hosting yet another warehouse sale at 442 Dufferin Street (Unit I). Items will be marked down at ridiculous lows of up to 70% off this weekend (October 5 - 6). To beat the rush, access their pre-sale on Friday (October 4) by RSVPing online.

MUSIC

London Grammar
English indie pop trio London Grammar make a stop in Toronto while on their first North American tour following the release of their debut album, If You Wait. Playing The Great Hall this Friday night, this newish band has been popularized by their ability to invoke 90s déjà vu with drumbeats and vocals, according to The Guardian. Tickets are sold out online but may still be available before showtime at Soundscapes or Rotate This and, of course, are always worthy of a check in on StubHub.

Lorde
New Zealand art pop singer Lorde makes her first Toronto appearance at Danforth Music Hall this Sunday night just one week after the debut of her first album, Pure Heroine. The 16-year-old with an old musical soul has seen her 2012 EP single "Royals" go to #1 on the Billboard music chart--the first New Zealander to do so--making it clear why this show has sold out. Tickets are still floating around the city at inflated prices but are well worth it if you can get your hands on them. Expect great things from Lorde--this isn't a Lana del Rey situation.

David Francey
Three-time Juno winner David Francey released his debut album at 45 and has since been designated the Canadian Woody Guthrie by the Georgia Straight. The folk troubadour releases his new album So Say We All with two nights of performances at Hugh's Room. Francey performs with Mark Westberg, Chris Coole and Darren McMullen this Friday and Saturday. Tickets are available through the Hugh's Room website.

Nuit Blanche (it's not just art, you know)
Nuit Blanche isn't just an all night party for art lovers — foodies can have their fair share of excitement during the dawn til dusk celebration too. While in Nuit Blanche's early days pickings were scarce for hungry revelers, now you could almost plan your entire night around the eats: overnight on Saturday, October 5th the city wide art crawl will be fueled by late night restaurants, food trucks, and more. Harvest Festival
Todmorden Mills Heritage Site opens this Sunday for a free, family-friendly festival celebrating the annual harvest with crafts, tastings and songs. The 19th century heritage site will be home to small events throughout the day, including historic cooking demos and a theatre production of Voices in the Valley, which explores the site's history. The festival begins at noon and donations will be accepted for the performance.

FILM

The Dirties
The Dirties is what you get when you combine a York University film graduate with a full-time teacher in his first acting role. Director Matthew Johnson and teacher-turned-lead actor Owen Williams will join audiences at the 2PM screening of Toronto-made film The Dirties at the TIFF Bell Lightbox this Sunday for a special Q&A. Johnson's feature debut follows two high school friends who make a DIY comedy about getting revenge on bullies that takes a dark turn when one begins to make the fantasy a reality. The Canadian indie screens until October 10th.

15 Reasons to Live
15 people with 15 very different stories explain how they have met their challenges and faced their worst demons in 15 Reasons to Live. Director Alan Zweig's hopeful documentary opens at the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema this Friday night. Q&A screenings have been scheduled with the director, who recently won the Best Canadian Feature Film at TIFF 2013 for When Jews Were Funny, on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Tickets are available at the Bloor box office.

THEATRE

Night of the Living Dead Live
A remake of George A. Romero's classic film, Night of the Living Dead Live places the film onstage and in black and white. Set in 1968, the original zombie film becomes a play with multiple endings performed onstage. The once controversial story is presented with Romero's blessing--he serves as executive producer on the stage performance--and runs up until Halloween. Tickets are available through the Theatre Passe Muraille box office.
