Taste of Iceland
Experience a flurry of Icelandic cuisine with a special menu at Luma (350 King St. West) from November 13 to 16. Coupled with free concerts at Horseshoe Tavern, this $55 four-course dinner from guest chef Viktor Örn Andrésson and chefs Michael Wilson and Anthony Walsh promises to be a cool night out. Expect the menu to showcase authentic Icelandic dishes featuring exotic ingredients like Icelandic cod, langoustine and viking skyr. LI

Veggielicious
Veggielicious is once again about to spring forth from Toronto's kitchens. Starting this Friday (November 14), the fourth annual event will bring vegan-friendly prix-fixe menus and other specials to a couple dozen Toronto restaurants through November 30. Learn more here. NM

DRINK

Bourbon Week
Listen, you need to drink bourbon this fall. Because it tastes like wood, but also because it's underwritten by sweetness, just like the end of summer, when everything swells with desire. Um, ok. I'll calm down now. But it's true. Do it right at Bourbon Week. For one week in November 14-20th) the city goes golden as select bars bust out the good stuff to celebrate the strange interstice between summer and winter. DF, of course DF.

Double Double Land 5th Anniversary Weekend
Double Double Land are "taking a stupid risk" and flying incredible street performer The Space Lady in from San Francisco for their fifth anniversary party, which will carry on over three nights from Thursday, November 13 - Saturday, November 15th. November film festival mania!
While TIFF is long over already and Hot Docs is a long way off, Toronto goes bananas for film festivals in the November. It must be weather related. This weekend you can catch a handful of fests, including the free European Union Film Fest (be ready to stand in line). Here's what's on:

BOOKS

Inspire! Toronto International Book Fair
The inaugural Inspire! Toronto International Book Fair will take place November 13-16 at the Metro Convention Centre with over 400 authors on hand, including such heavyweights as Margaret Atwood (but of course), William Gibson, Anne Rice, and Kathy Reichs. Along with the literary highlights, there will be sections and stages devoted to culinary writing (with Elizabeth Baird and Rose Reisman in attendance), children's books, romance novels, and memoirs. The fair will be capped off with Canada's Self-Publishing Awards, which will dole out $50,000 in prizes. DF

Karine Giboulo
Angell on Ossington's Karine Giboulo installations should be pretty mind blowing. The Montreal artists' childlike miniatures take kitsch and turn it on its head, depicting disturbing visions from technicolour sheep hooked up to IV machines to first world tourism in third world locales. The opening is Saturday, November 15th 6-9pm. Nov 15 - Dec 20, Angell Gallery.

FASHION

Gentlemen's Expo
The Gentlemen's Expo is back for the second year, which is great because some times you just want to pass as a dude. Head to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre Nov 14-16 to learn the secrets from real live dudes who identify as gentlemen and macho companies including Canadian Tire and 102.1 The Edge. The Darcys and Born Ruffians will perform, obviously. Hair flip/beard flip. Once you learn how to be a dapper dude, it's time to get shopping - and wall climbing (gentlemen need to scale everything).

THEATRE

Arcadia
Tom Stoppard's Arcadia is one of the playwright's finest achievements and has been hailed as a contemporary masterpiece. On the grounds of Sidley Park, a Derbyshire country home, Stoppard layers his characters across time and space, going back and forth between 1809 and the present day, as they engage with the mysteries of sex, mathematics, and truth. The production is directed by Eda Holmes and arrives in Toronto after a successful run at the Shaw Festival. Royal Alex Theatre, November 4 - December 14. KB

Ryan Hemsworth
You love Ryan Hemsworth no matter who you are. You can eat cereal across the table from any random hookup's random Craigslist roommate's visiting cousin and you can say "that Ryan Hemsworth remix" and they will nod. Royal Winter Fair
Can't escape the city this fall? Let the country come to you. The largest indoor agricultural fair and international equestrian competition in the world takes over Exhibition Place from November 7-16 for 10 days of horse shows, petting zoos, livestock competitions, fudge eating, butter sculpting, sweater-buying fun. The event has become increasingly food-focused over the years, which just makes sense. Get to know your farmer, guys. It makes dinner taste better. LI
