The top 5 free events in Toronto: August 3-9

Free events in Toronto will have you seeing live shows all week long. There are a number of musicians taking the stage at Ontario's Celebration Zone for cost free performances. If that's not enough, PANAMANIA returns on August 2nd, and will bring world-class musicians, like Chromeo and Janelle Monae, to the stage at Nathan Phillips Square.

Here's what to do if you've already dipped into your savings a little too much.

Live Music at Ontario's Celebration Zone
Who doesn't like a free show? There's plenty of cost-free concerts at Ontario's Celebration Zone this week. You'll see Jesse Cooke (August 3), JJ and The Pillars (August 4), The Heartbroken (August 5), and lots more -- all for free.

Live on the Patio at Roy Thomson Hall: The St. Royals
(August 5-6)

Adding to this week's overflowing roster of live music is Live on the Patio at Roy Thomson Hall. This week, the summer patio series will feature The St. Royals.

TIFF in the Park: The King's Speech (August 5)
Head to David Pecaut Square for another free movie night. The feature film this week is Oscar-winning flick, The King's Speech, starring Colin Firth.

Taste of the Danforth (August 7-9)
Taste of the Danforth is one of the city's most popular street festivals. The food is plentiful, with more souvlaki than anyone can reasonably handle. There's dancing and music, and there's an amazing high energy to it. Be warned though: the festival is this popular for a reason, so the crowds are massive.

PANAMANIA (August 7-12)
PANAMANIA returns this weekend and the fun and free events are back. This week see Chromeo (August 7), The Roots (August 8), Janelle Monae (August 9) tons of world music artists and lots more -- all for free at Nathan Phillips Square. Check the schedule and show up early.
