Labour Day weekend events in Toronto 2015

Labour Day weekend events in Toronto for 2015 will have you putting on your best cosplay duds and heading to Fan Expo. Expect to see all things weird and wacky as well as a few notable celebs. If that's not your thing, head to the Ex for the final weekend of the CNE. Indulge in all the food your stomach can handle or watch vintage planes acrobatically blaze across the sky in the air show.

CNE

CNE (August 21-September 7)
If you have yet to go to the CNE, now's the time as it shuts down September 7th. Expect to find the Exhibition Grounds bustling with regular roster of midway games, rides, exhibitions, fair foods and, of course, the yearly Canadian National Air Show.

FESTIVALS

Fan Expo (September 3-6)
This event will have the MTCC filled with everyone from comic book nerds to cosplay queens. Fan expo enthusiasts know to expect a roster of activities, vendors and special guests. On this years list: Mike Tyson, Norman Reedus, and more.

Oddball Festival (September 6)
Funny or Die is bringing some of the worlds brightest comedic talent to the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre on September 6th. Look forward to seeing Aziz Ansari, Amy Schumer, Nick Kroll, and many more of your fave funny men and women crack jokes on stage.

Artfest at the Distillery (September 4-7)
The Distillery is one of the nicer venues for an outdoor art event, especially because of the many venues to eat and drink immediately nearby. Art hunting can be exhausting. So after you check out work from local artisans, head for a French-style lunch at Cluny or Mexican at El Catrin or just pints at the Mill Street Beer Hall.

Open Streets TO (September 6)
Open Streets TO is taking over a chunk of downtown Toronto for a street fest promoting physical activity and city exploration once again. So grab your bike, your yoga mat, or just walk yourself over and enjoy the outdoors. Don't expect to find any vendors; the focus is on getting active, not trying outrageous foods.

FOOD & DRINK

Hot and Spicy Food Fest (September 4-7)
If you're prone to dousing your food in Frank's Red Hot or Sriracha, this fest is probably right up your alley. Celebrating cuisine from around the globe, this event focuses on hot, spicy and sustainable foods. Be sure to bring an extra bottle of water; your tongue will thank you.

MUSIC

L7 (September 6)
I'm still crying about Babes in Toyland's reunion already kind of going off the rails, but luckily (hopefully?) the other 90s girl-band revival in town this month will hold it together long enough to make it to TO intact.

The Tallest Man on Earth (September 4)
Head to Massey Hall this Friday to see The Tallest Man on Earth perform. The Swedish singer-songwriter will be performing songs off his new album Dark Bird Is Home, as well as well-loved songs off his earlier albums. Tickets will put you back $50, but they're worth it.

ENTERTAINMENT

Velvet Underground's Farewell (September 5)
It's time for one last hurrah at Velvet Underground before the doors close for good. Bring your inner goth to the Queen West bar and give the 20 year old club the goodbye it deserves. DJ Shannon will be playing retro 80s/90s alt and rock all night long for good measure.

SHOPPING

Parkdale Flea (September 6)
Spend your Sunday rummaging around the Parkdale Flea for some vintage treasures. If you're not down to spend any money, bring your four legged friend and do a little window shopping.

AWARENESS

Toronto Walk For Gingers (September 5)
Head to Trinity Bellwoods this Saturday to give your support to the redheaded community. They'll be raising support and awareness about stereotyping and bullying gingers. Grab a sign and get ready to march.
