This $7 million modernist estate in Markham is movie star material
Nestled on a sprawling property in Markham is a new residential real estate listing that looks like the type of house you'd see in the Hollywood Hills — and has the $6.8 million pricetag to go with it, too.
The modernist mansion near Steeles and Bayview (about half an hour from Toronto) sits at 57 Old English Lane, which the realtors boast as a "lavish enclave" in the Bayview Glen neighbourhood.
The home is a unique mix of decades-old architecture and modern finishes, with white stucco throughout, both around the exterior and inside.
Upon entering, you'll find newly-renovated details like floating wooden steps and glass balustrades, a chef's kitchen with stainless-steel appliances and beautifully outfitted, redone bathrooms with jacuzzi tubs and multi-function shower panels.
There is also a tennis court, full basement bar, an indoor swimming pool, hot tub and ping pong table in a dedicated pool room.
But, some of the details show the home's age, and may not be to the style of some buyers: minimalist vibes from the entryway and kitchen admittedly clash with chunky, outdated furniture, glass bricks, and backlit coffered ceilings in the living spaces.
(Though a buyer at this price point will be able to reno and outfit the space however they want.)
With all its quirks, the home is definitely a design masterpiece and is extremely unique, and also comes on a fair chunk of well-maintained property with mature trees.
The realtor is clearly looking for certain type of client, with shots of Louis Vuitton and Versace stores, flutes of champagne and expensive watches inexplicably peppered in the virtual tour of the house.
And at this price, that's not all that surprising, though some multi-millionaires may not appreciate what this older, one-of-a-kind home has to offer.
