It's always fun to see what Toronto architects do for their own homes. 

They often showcase the most creative and personal touches, reflecting the architect's unique style and vision without the usual constraints of a client's brief.

The homes offer a glimpse into the designer's personality and passions, making them a treasure trove of inspiration and innovative design ideas, just like with 49 Brookfield St.

The four-bedroom, five-bathroom home was designed and built by Blue Lion Building for the firm's own architect, Evan Saskin. 

The open-concept living room and dining room.

When designing the house, Saskin really focused on creating a home that was a part of the street but still a beautiful piece of architecture and then, on the inside, had a home that maximized living space.

The result is a deceivingly spacious modern house with a ton of attention to detail. That attention to detail particularly shines when it comes to the light and space inside the home. 

The home features tons of natural light. 

For example, on the main floor, the centre of the house is grounded by a soaring 27-foot atrium that allows natural light to flood the heart of the home. 

Spaces are big enough to all gather but also big enough to have your own space if needed. 

The main floor layout is fairly open concept, with each room flowing into the next, and entertaining is a breeze with the spacious living and dining room. 

The charcoal brick wall. 

Little touches, like the wire-rubbed white oak hardwood floors, in contrast with the exposed charcoal brick walls, add texture and intrigue to the home.

The kitchen and family room are at the back of the house.

The kitchen is sleek and modern with white lacquer cabinetry, Caesar stone countertops and stainless steel appliances. 

A bedroom on the third floor. 

Upstairs, you'll find the bedrooms, which are all separated by the atrium/courtyard in the middle of the house. So, no matter how loud someone snores, you're decently far away.

The primary bedroom features a six-piece ensuite and a large walk-in closet.

The other bedrooms are spacious, each with their own walk-in closet.

The third-storey of the house also a lounge space and gives you views of the city.

There's more living space in the basement with a recreational room and an extra bathroom.

As for outdoor space, the backyard was done by BSQ Landscape Architects. It's simple but calming.

The backyard leads to a detached two car garage, which in Trinity Bellwoods area is a rare luxury.

"This home was built by an architect for an architect, so it is no surprise that the current owner is also an architect and art collector with refined international design sensibilities," Dan Kligman, broker and partner of The Yorkville Team, told blogTO.

"I would imagine that the future owner of this home will also appreciate a one-of-a-kind, thoughtfully designed home as unique as the owner and that can act as a canvas for their own personalities to shine through," added Kligman.
