Super-skinny Toronto tower proposal keeps winning international design awards
An upcoming Toronto condo tower is raking in awards for its standout design despite only existing in the form of plans and renderings for the time being.
Core Architects' project at 210 Bloor Street West is among the most anticipated condo developments in the city, set to rise 29 storeys from a narrow 13-metre-wide footprint and contain just 42 luxury units.
Its bold architecture would complement the Royal Ontario Museum just across Bloor Street to the south, and contribute to what is shaping up to be one of the city's most architecturally significant blocks.
Despite its preconstruction status, 210 Bloor's design has captured the attention of onlookers worldwide and has managed to rack up several awards before shovels even hit the ground.

The latest honours were bestowed on the project at the Grands Prix du Design 2024, the 17th edition of the international awards program recognizing designs from across the globe.
The project took home a pair of gold awards at this year's Grands Prix, recognized as the best in its class in the Residential Building/Apartment & Condo over ten storeys category and the Special Award/Architecture + Glass category.

These two gold awards are just the latest in a series of accolades for the project this year.
Core's design for 210 Bloor West took home gold at the Global Future Design Awards in the Urban Design & Architecture Design category earlier this year, along with an accolade for Architecture, Building and Structure Design at the A'Design Award and Competition, and top honours in the Future Residential Projects group at the World Architecture News Awards Americas.

Developer Tribute Communities is leaning into the project's architectural ambition, with promotional materials for the condo calling it a "paradigm-shifting design," and boasting that "210 Bloor Street West transcends the curse of cookie-cutter construction. Inside and out —magnificence."
The project will rise wall-to-wall with another impressive pencil-thin project currently in preconstruction at 208 Bloor Street West, which will feature a rose gold-coloured facade designed by architects BQP Quadrangle.
