Danny's Pizza Tavern on College serves tavern-style pies in an unpretentious spot that can be likened to a traditional European tavern filled with personal photos and eclectic decor.
Specializing in home-style midwestern cuisine including vinegar chicken, and a 7-oz. burger. However, it's the tavern-style pizzas – which are thin-crust, bar pies that are cut into squares, not slices, that draw the crowds.
(Fact: if you ask a Chicagoan, these are the preferred style of pizzas they consume. It's not deep dish.)
The latter comes in everything from classic Margherita with grass-fed mozzarella and basil to Pepperoni that also has fior di latte. There are white pies that are available as Cacio Pepe or even a Clam Pie with clams, porcini sauce, caramelized onions and a lemon pepper finish.
