The Fix Ice Cream Bar
The Fix Ice Cream Bar is a sister project to Joe Bird. Of course, you can order these soft serve treats as a finale to your meal at the restaurant, but many find themselves drawn into the adjacent spot after the ice cream bar facing the waterfront piques their interest.
Four house-made soft serve flavours provide the foundation for wacky creations, and there’s a vegan, dairy-free option too. They've also partnered with Ed’s Real Scoop to offer four hard ice cream flavours.
A graffiti vibe dominates the small counter area with images splashed all over the bar and across the walls.
“High tea” ($6) is one of their soft serve signature combos. Their own chai latte soft serve, which is rich with tea flavour, is topped with lavender, golden raisins, and a mini croissant. I highly recommend scooping up soft serve with the croissant!
A brulee donut “sammich” ($8) fills a sugar donut with burnt marshmallow ice cream and tops it with raspberries.
The donut has is bruleed with a blowtorch for a crunchy effect.
You can also build an ice cream sammich ($8) to your liking by choosing any ice cream flavour and any cookie, all finished off with chocolate dip encrusted with a topping.
We get an oatmeal chocolate cookie with peanut butter ice cream and a sort of beer nut topping for a salty, sweet, crunchy, melty dessert.
The “Campfire” ($6) is a signature hard ice cream combo. The cone is ringed with freshly torched marshmallow around the top.
It’s then filled with burnt marshmallow ice cream topped with caramel flakes, an entire roasted marshmallow and a graham cracker dipped in chocolate with mini marshmallows stuck to it.
Their vegan flavour is a coconut milk hibiscus raspberry banana soft serve that brings a strong fruity, sorbet-like flavour. It’s garnished with sweet and chewy dried pineapple flowers, berry sauce (basically jam), and the same granola served for breakfast from the Joe Bird takeout window.
Located right at Harbourfront, where the demand for cold treats is as high as it gets in Toronto, the Fix is another spot for Instagram-worthy ice cream.
