iQ Food Co. First Canadian Place

iQ Food Co. + Greenhouse Juice Co. have teamed up to offer the Financial District healthy options for eats at the Food Terrace on the mezzanine level of First Canadian Place.

Found beside Maman , the two stalls are together, but separate; each has its own payment area: iQ's is cashless, while Greenhouse accepts both cards and cash. Clearly geared towards those who work in this area, both stalls are open only on weekdays.

Like all its locations, iQ offers teas from Pluck and espresso-based beverages with beans from Pilot Coffee Roasters . The sleek and shiny Modbar espresso system is used to make the beverages, and my flat white is expertly executed; it's smooth and strong, with no sugar necessary.

There is also filtered still or sparkling water ($1 each) and house-made iced tea ($2.62) available on tap.

Breakfast items include chia pudding ($5.09) and my personal fave, avocado toast ($5.97) - a total game changer. A good amount of mashed avocado, along with lime juice, chili flakes, cilantro, extra virgin olive oil, mountain salt plus pepper all come together on a slice of Blackbird 's organic wheat pullman loaf, and the result is deliciously mind-blowing.

With creamy avocado, a bit of spicy heat from the chili flakes, a citrusy zing from the lime and high-quality bread, this creation is a win for the semi-ridiculous artisanal toast trend, and makes for an addictive breakfast.

For lunch, there are iQ's boxes, which are already quite well-known amongst Bay Streeters. Ingredients change with the seasons, and sourcing is listed prominently for those interested in knowing where their food is coming from.

We try a gluten-free 5-Star box ($10.40), which contains avocado, double sweet potato, broccoli, napa cabbage slaw, power seed mix (currants, cashews, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, goji berries), organic quinoa and organic baby kale with coconut-orange dressing. It's crunchy, sweet, citrusy and satisfying.

A rainbow of organic cold-pressed juices, along with probiotic tonics, handmade nut milks, hydrators and boosters can be found on the Greenhouse side.

All the Greenhouse favourites are available, including the lung-and-liver-cleansing Deep Roots with beet, carrot, apple, celery and lemon and the immunity-boosting Wake Up with orange, lemon, grapefruit and liquid cayenne (both $8/250mL, $11/500mL).

For a more green juice, there's an iQ + Greenhouse collaboration, which is a "brain tonic" fittingly called Genius ($8.50/250mL), containing spinach, kale, celery, cucumber, pineapple, lemon, E3Live and Himalayan salt.

Suggested packages, like a "Hangover Kit" ($27) and an afternoon ½-cleanse ($29) cater to those on the go, as do snacks like a portage mix ($3.75) and direct trade organic Trinidadian chocolate ($5) that is 75 percent cacao and 25 percent cane sugar made by Aaron Raphael here in Toronto.
