Toronto sports fans take the spotlight in Mastercard's T.O. the Devoted platform

As a Toronto sports fan, you're no stranger to supporting your favourite teams. But now it’s your turn to feel the love, thanks to Mastercard’s T.O. the Devoted platform.

Toronto sports fansMastercard has long been a proud sponsor of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE), and with Mastercard T.O. The Devoted platform, continues to celebrate devoted fans by giving them opportunities to connect with other sports enthusiasts, showcasing local business owners who are also sports fans, and offering Mastercard cardholders a chance to win exclusive prizes like game-day tickets and behind-the-scenes experiences.

Plus, with Mastercard Insider Benefits, cardholders always enjoy discounts on in-seat food orders and sports apparel. They can also access ticket holds, table resos, and more exclusive perks.

How Toronto Football Club fans can win big

Just how epic are some of these prizes, you ask? Well, recently, fans were given the chance to attend the Toronto Football Club’s biggest game of the year through the Mastercard Devoted Dash contest. Two sets of pitch-side tickets were hidden in secret locations across the GTA, and clues were posted on Mastercard's Instagram throughout the day as to where, and how to score them.

Were you able to decode the hints to find the elusive tickets? Two lucky winners can say they did!

Toronto sports fansThe first winner, Janaan Sinnadurai, came all the way from Pickering to be on standby for the clues. From Scarborough, he took the GO Train to Weston Station after he figured out the hint. He expected to get merch, and was incredibly thrilled to find out he won the tickets!

The second winner, Michael Siddall, was driving around Toronto with his family after figuring out the first clue as they waited for the second to drop. When it did, the family figured it out and drove to the correct location. Michael gleefully sang the TFC chant while opening the passenger door for his kid, and together, the two claimed the tickets.

Showcasing the best of fan small businesses

But that's not all Mastercard's doing for fan appreciation. Its The Dish series highlights and celebrates local small business owners that are passionate about sports.

In the series, Mastercard selects a local eatery with an owner who's devoted to a Toronto sports team and brings in a representative from that team into their restaurant! Through unique experiences like these, business owners meet and dine with members of their favourite teams and make memorable moments that only strengthen the connection between local businesses and the sports community.

Most recently, Toronto Football Club player Prince Owusu enjoyed some arepas at Bacan, a fan's Argentine and Venezuelan restaurant. Owners Mina and Ale describe TFC nights as "family reunions" when everyone gathers to watch the game, and were thrilled to have the support of Mastercard — and of course, their favourite player.

Then, over the summer, Raptors sportscaster Matt Devlin tried the infamous Classic Hot Dog at Peaches Sports Bar, a queer-friendly bar that embraces the idea that everyone should feel welcome cheering on their favourite team.

Earlier this year, Maple Leafs alumni Grant Fuhr and Jamal Mayers visited long-time fan Jerome Robinson's restaurant, The Heartbreak Chef, where they feasted on the ultimate Mac & Charlie comfort food sandwich.
