One of Ontario's most beautiful villages has a free Christmas market and it looks magical
Let's face it, nowhere does Christmas quite like small towns. And this holiday season, Elora, a.k.a Ontario's "most beautiful village," is shining brighter than ever!
The charming village has transformed into a winter wonderland that could easily be mistaken for a scene from a Hallmark holiday movie. The 2024 Elora Christmas Market is open now until Dec. 29, and it's the perfect place to celebrate the magic and nostalgia of the season.
Located just a 90-minute drive from Toronto, it makes for an easy day trip. Oh, and the best part? It's free!
Elora Christmas Market and the surrounding town area are lit bright with an incredible 88,000 energy-efficient twinkling lights, over 150 decorated trees, and holiday decor galore. In the village centre, you'll find a living, rooted Christmas tree, standing tall at 35 ft high and adorned with a grand star.
Take a stroll through the cobblestone streets and bask in the festive ambience any day of the week or check out the market itself on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 11 a.m to 7 p.m.
Browse through picturesque Chalet cedar huts offering a whole host of artisan goods, including locally made glass-blown ornaments, boutique fashion finds, and gourmet treats perfect for gifting. Along the way, you can fuel your festive spirit with comfort eats, stay cozy with a steaming hot drink, or gather around the cozy plein-air fire tables.
Every weekend, live holiday music and performances will take place at the stunning living Christmas tree and in the bustling chalet shopping areas. And, if you're after a little nostalgia, you can watch classic Christmas matinee movies at Ontario's oldest historical cinema, The Gorge.
And, if you're driving from Toronto, why not stay a while? Elora has so much to discover — from incredible food and drink destinations to cozy hotels and homey Airbnbs.
Ready to rediscover the magic of Christmas? Grab your family and friends (and your best winter jacket) and visit The Elora Christmas Market this December!
