Indy! I love you.

As much as Short Round idolizes Dr. Jones, we Torontonians love our Molson Indy. This Friday kicks off the twentieth Indy race and although we usually don't need a reason to drink beer, this is a pretty good one. Before you ask, no Danica Patrick, America's and David Letterman's sweetheart, is not here, but plenty of big names are, including local hero Paul Tracy (or 'PT' if you prefer) and former champ Jimmy Vasser. For each of the three days, there are a ton of qualifying heats, races of all levels and even more excuses to drink beer. Even for those of us who aren't race enthusiasts, the Indy is not to be missed. Television does not do it justice.

Walking through the pits and mingling with the gearheads is an experience unto itself. Just the sounds and smells alone should get you pumped up. And as for tickets? While some of the grandstand seats can be a little steep, you can get a general admission pass for under forty bucks. And truth be told, that's the way to go. Rather than being stuck in one spot, you're free to roam around, shop, take a break if you're bored or lean right up against the chain link fence and feel the marbles (track lingo for rubber pellets) bounce off the course. The sound alone will knock you back a step or two.

The Molson Indy starts tomorrow and runs through Sunday. Tonight on your way home, gun the engine to get yourself in the mood. Maybe even drag with the cab beside you.
