Bubbles filled the sky today at Old City Hall

Bubbles!

Since arriving in Toronto, Lori Kufner and Kevin Bracken have been giving Torontonians excuses to celebrate. Whether it's partying on a subway, or painting hearts along Queen West, their NewMindSpace platform has made planned spontaneous fun a delight across the city - and has also given city bloggers something interesting to write about.

Today, they did it again, with their City Hall Bubble Battle. Meeting this afternoon outside of Old City Hall, about 400 revelers arived, armed with all manner of bubble making devices: from small bubble wands, to bubble guns, to home made bubble making wire contraptions; there were even a few bubble swords to be found.

The bubbles brought a smile to everybody's face

On the whole, it was more bubble bop than battle, despite the profusion of weapon shaped bubble things. Standing on the steps, running about the sidewalk, or just meandering and taking photos (by the end, there seemed to be more photographers than bubble-makers), everybody was enjoying themselves. Despite rumours that I've just made up to the contrary, it is unprooven that Lori has any connection to the bubble stuff manufacturing industry (hereafter known simply as 'Big Bubble'; she insists that the Bubble Battle was all in fun.

Making it even more special, this even was simultaneously branched out in other Canadian cities, as well as Pennsylvania. Today, all across North America, thanks to the sense of fun of a pair of Torontonians: bubbles reigned.
