Unusual events in Toronto this summer bring out the adventurous in all of us. They're also a chance to shake things up a bit and get away from the standard-issue food and beer fests on everyone's schedules. There are wacky and wonderful things to do in the city; you just need to know where to find them.

Here's a round-up of unusual events in Toronto this summer.

FIGMENT (July 23-24)
Redefining how you interact with art, this little festival on Toronto Island (Gibraltar Point to be exact) will feature many large scale interactive artworks. Seriously, just show up with zero expectations and let your mind run free. Last year's fest included a giant fish, forest sound loops, and an intergalactic garden.

Thank you for being a friend: The Ultimate Golden Girls Experience (July 29 - August 24)
On stage at the Al Green Theatre from July 29 to September 24, see the Golden Girls, live in puppet form! Watch Dorothy, Sophia, Rose and Blanche crack biting jokes and delivering wise words around their Miami apartment. Reserve early to get a VIP Kitchen Table seat, complete with cheesecake.

Sailor Moon pop up cafe (July 30)
The city's love for Sailor Moon continues to shine bright with this theme night complete with service from in-character Sailor Moon staff, art and colouring competitions every hour, and a themed menu including Sailor Moon parfait and Senshi drinks. Oh yeah, there will be karaoke too!

Insane Inflatable obstacle course (August 13)
This is a 5K travelling obstacle course for adults that features inflatable hills, a giant human slingshot, a wave runner track, wrecking balls, and a giant mattress with holes in it. Basically, this is a bouncy castle wonderland brought to life for adults. Indulge your Peter Pan syndrome and get running.

Bat skeleton articulation workshop (August 25)
Hurry up and reserve your seat for this event! Just what it sounds like, it's a class in which students learn how to create an osteological preparation of a bat in the fashion of 19th century zoological displays. A Tim Burton-esque activity if there ever was one, at the end of the class you'll leave with a lifelike bat skeleton posed in a 10 inch tall glass dome.
