Toronto golf courses are about to open for the 2023 season

Get ready to haul your best clubs and putters out of storage, because Toronto golf courses are set to officially open for the 2023 season this week.

The City operates five golf courses; Dentonia Park, Don Valley, Humber Valley, Scarlett Woods, and Tam O'Shanter, and they're all slated to open on Tuesday, April 4.

Tee time start times will vary throughout the season, and as daylight hours extend, they will be adjusted to allow for dawn to dusk play.

Golfing has continued to grow in popularity across the city, with a record high of 225,501 rounds played in 2022, beating out the previous record of 218,000 rounds played in 2003.

If traditional golf isn't your thing, FlingGolf will also be available at Dentonia Park, Humber Valley, Scarlett Woods and Tam O'Shanter golf courses.

The new recreational sport combines elements of golf and lacrosse, and is played with a FlingStick that will be available to rent on site.

Self-led outdoor fitness circuit Bench Fit will also be available at all City golf courses, which uses park benches to encourage you to perform up to 40 exercises along a 10-station circuit.

All courses will operate daily into the fall season, weather permitting.

Avid golfers are encouraged to book in advance through the City's website or call the golf course directly up to five days in advance.
