People can't stand the new Team Canada Olympic uniforms for 2024
The 2024 Summer Olympics will officially kick off in Paris this Friday with a spectacular opening ceremony where Canadian athletes will don their latest Olympic gear from lululemon.
But just like in preview years, the public has plenty to say about these new threads for 2024, and many have taken to social media to slam the official Team Canada x lululemon Olympic merch that was revealed on Tuesday.
Some of the offerings in this year's collection include a $398 bomber jacket, a $298 poncho, a hoodie priced at $198, jogging pants for $168, and t-shirts selling for $98.
But chatter has been more directed at the gear than the pricing, and people are particularly confused by the designs of the new merchandise. One user even compared the blotchy red motifs to the blood-spatter patterns seen in the television drama Dexter.
No, this isn’t a scene from Dexter, these are what our Canadian Olympians are being made to wear during the France Olympics. pic.twitter.com/kL2y217imU

A comment directed at lululemon's X account asked, "Were you guys sober when you designed Canada's embarrassing Olympic uniforms? Has to be the Fugliest pajamas ever! Why blood splatter? Hopefully, you will hear more about this garbage!"
Can @lululemon and @TeamCanada please throw out the new Canada Olympic uniforms and start again?

Have you ever seen a worse design in your life?
Awful!
Another user wrote, "Lululemon, what the hell were you thinking?! These are THE worst Olympic outfits seen to date. Never again should you be allowed anywhere near this association. Your designs are deplorable."
We used to be known for one of the best Olympic apparels….this is shit @lululemon

Many also take issue with the lululemon branding's visibility over the Team Canada logo. Both are roughly equal in size, but in many cases, the lululemon logo's red-on-white configuration contrasts better against the gear than the Team Canada's white-on-red logo.
Notice how the lulu logo is more noticeable than the Canadian Olympic logo… 🤦♂️ @lululemon drop the ball hard

This is not the first time lululemon has faced blowback over its Team Canada gear. Commenters similarly slammed the brand's apparel for the 2022 Winter Olympics over its design.
Even gear produced by other brands has been met with criticism, like The Bay's "Canadian tuxedo" sold during the rescheduled Tokyo Summer Olympics in 2021.
