Toronto Maple Leafs dump one of their biggest fans over his choice in beer
Over the past three years, Toronto Maple Leafs fans might've seen a rambunctious fan filming himself in a memorabilia-filled basement, screaming out an ever-growing list of catchphrases while drinking large quantities of beer.
Located in small-town Alberta, Kurtis Stevenson has become a staple of Leafs online fandom for his tweets and videos — but it seems like his favourite team is no longer a fan of the content.
"My heart and spirit broke today," Stevenson wrote in a post on social media. "Unfortunately I have essentially been forced to shut down my social media or change who I am."
According to Stevenson, he received a phone call from his "favourite team" suggesting legal action should he continue making his videos.
"I can't make videos anymore unless I drink the beer of the sponsor of that team because the beer company has flagged me, and was going to send a cease-and-desist order with legal action if if I continued," Stevenson said. "I won't be bullied. This is crazy. I can't drink any beer without a certain team's logo anywhere in the background, I can't wear a jersey, I can't wear a helmet, I can't do anything."

Unfortunately I have essentially been forced to shut down my social media or change who I am.
I have loved riding along side of all of you the past 3 years. Thank you for welcoming me into your lives.

The crux of the issue appears to be the on-camera drinking with the Leafs logo splattered everywhere, considering that the Leafs have a partnership with the Molson Coors family of beers.
Stevenson, meanwhile, is often drinking and promoting the Clock Out beer from Edmonton-based SYC Brewing, which produced a "Kurtis From Alberta" edition of the beer to be shipped Canada-wide.
"I have loved riding alongside all of you the past three years. Thank you for welcoming me into your lives," Stevenson added. "This is just another example of big corporations making sure the little people stay little… This isn't a goodbye but a maybe I'll see you later."
Back in 2022, Stevenson was a guest of MLSE for a game in a suite that was otherwise closed to the public on short notice due to COVID-19 restrictions. With Stevenson already having booked his travel and tickets for the game, an MLSE representative reached out and hooked him and fellow diehard Leafs fan Jason "Dart Guy" Maslakow up with box seats.
