Ex-Toronto Raptors player lands gig playing for fake team on Netflix show

We're used to seeing Kelly Olynyk on the basketball court, but not like this.

The Canadian centre has suited up for the Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, Houston Rockets, Detroit Pistons, Utah Jazz, Toronto Raptors, and New Orleans Pelicans during his 12-year NBA career.

But if you saw him on Netflix recently, he may have been in a "Portland Storms" uniform.

Olynyk made an appearance in the season finale of Running Point, a new comedy series on Netflix co-created by Mindy Kaling and starring Kate Hudson. Brenda Song, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks, and Toby Sanderman are also featured in the show based around the fictional "Los Angeles Waves" pro basketball team.

You could have missed Olynyk's cameo, given he doesn't speak in it. Wearing No. 11 with the last name "Ralston," the credits listed Olynyk simply as "Portland Big Man."

Born in Toronto, Olynyk spent his high school years in Kamloops before starring at Gonzaga University. He was a first-round pick by the Dallas Mavericks, who traded him to the Boston Celtics on draft day in 2013.

A loyal member of the national team, Olynyk helped Canada return to the Olympics in men's basketball for the first time in 24 years last summer.
