Netflix subscriptions just got more expensive in Canada

The cost of Netflix has gone up in several markets, including Canada.

Starting January 21st, Canadians have to pay the following prices for Netflix:

  • Standard with Ads — $7.99/month (up from $5.99/month)
  • Standard (no ads, HD-supported) — $18.99/month (up from $16.49/month)
  • Premium (no ads, 4K-supported) — $23.99/month (up from $20.99/month)

"As we continue to invest in programming and deliver more value for our members, we will occasionally ask our members to pay a little more so that we can re-invest to further improve Netflix," wrote Netflix of the reason for the price hikes in its Q4 2024 earnings report.

The company's last price increase in Canada was in January 2022 — the second hike in a year at the time — which saw the price of the highest-end Premium membership going up to $20.99/month.

Last year, the company also axed its cheapest ad-free plan, the $9.99/month Basic tier.
