You can hike through a forest to a frozen lake in Ontario this winter

It's official: the frosty winter temperatures have hit Toronto, and they might just be here to stay. But despite the cold, there are still a ton of activities to do during the winter months, like going skating or tubing.

If you're seeking a more lowkey activity, look no further: you can take a hike through a winter forest to a (usually) frozen lake in Ontario this winter.

With over 11 kilometres' worth of trails and six major ponds for you to explore around the conservation area, the trail at Westminster Ponds in London will make you feel like you're taking a stroll through Narnia.

Head down the path to Spettigue Pond, which has a floating dock year-round where you can gaze out over the winter wonderland.

While the warm temperatures so far this winter haven't allowed the pond to freeze over completely (yet), it doesn't take away from the beauty of the scene in the slightest. Bordered by snow-covered trees and a boardwalk, the scene is stunning in all seasons.

If your dog loves a chilly winter hike as much as you do, bring them along! Dogs are welcome on the trails but are required to be on-leash at all times.

Make sure to wear some sturdy footwear when taking a hike because the trails can become slippery during the winter.

And if you're looking for another place to go hiking, you can visit Mountsberg Conservation Area in Campbellville for a nighttime hike with twinkly lights.
