Aero Car with breathtaking views near Niagara Falls is now open for the season

The Whirpool Aero Car in Niagara Falls is now open for the season, bringing adventure-seekers on a thrilling trip suspended high above the powerful turquoise-blue rapids of the Niagara Gorge below.

Designed by a Spanish engineer, Leonardo Torres Quevedo, the Whirlpool Aero Car has been soaring above the gorge for over 100 years since 1916.

Passengers embark on a one-kilometre route within an antique cable car, which lasts about 10 minutes, offering mesmerizing views of the white water below.

Due to the way the river elbows, riders will actually cross the international border line between Canada and the United States four times during each journey.

The car is suspended from six cables and holds roughly 35 standing passengers at a time.

While its design is over a century old, there's no need to be worried about its safety: The car has been upgraded three times over the years and was removed from its tracks to undergo refurbishments in Québec this past winter.

Thanks to mild temperatures, the Whirpool Aero Car has opened just in time for the Easter long weekend. It's expected to run until November this year.

Adult admission costs $17.50 per person, and $11.50 for children between 3 and 12 years of age.

If you can't get enough of the captivating rapids, you can also experience them from solid ground. This stunning boardwalk runs along the white water, with epic lookout points.
